Senior Mechanical Engineer
About Stark
Stark builds the world’s most powerful electric motorcycles. From the VARG MX to the road-legal VARG EX & SM, our bikes have won world championships and are engineered to outperform anything with a combustion engine.
We’re based in Sant Boi, Barcelona, growing fast (77% year-on-year), and building a team that will take us even further. If you want to work on a product that people are genuinely obsessed with, this is it.
Stark will become the global market leader in premium motorcycles. Building premium motorcycles requires innovation and we need your help to make us succeed
Our mission is to lead the way towards a sustainable motorcycle industry, by reducing plastic and CO2 pollution.
This will be achieved by building sustainable products that are superior to traditional technology in terms of Performance, Emotion and Design.
The Role
We're looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to be at the core of building next-generation electric motorcycles. You'll own the full journey of mechanical components and subsystems — from concept and prototyping through testing, integration, and manufacturing — with a particular focus on safety-critical systems.
You'll work closely with our engineering and design teams, reporting to the Chief Engineer, in a fast-moving environment where your decisions directly shape what ends up on the bike.
What You’ll Do
Translate high-level product requirements into concrete designs for safety-critical mechanical subsystems, including hydraulic actuation systems and associated components
Conceptualise, prototype, test, and deliver finished mechanical components and subassemblies ready for large-scale production
Work alongside Engineering and Design to develop and ship high-quality electric motorcycles on time
Support the integration of mechanical systems with the motorcycle's energy management strategy during deceleration
Generate full engineering documentation: CAD models, drawings, schematics, and detailed procedures
Ensure proper testing, validation, and certification of safety-critical systems and the overall vehicle
Support the transition of designs to the manufacturing line
What you will bring to Stark
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar (BS/MS preferred)
4+ years of experience developing motorcycles or vehicles, with experience in hydraulic actuation or safety-critical subsystems a strong plus
Proven track record bringing complex, mechanically focused products to market
Proficiency in CAD (PTC Creo preferred) and drafting practices including GD&T
Deep understanding of static and dynamic load cases and structural analyses
Strong familiarity with manufacturing processes involved in large-scale vehicle production
Ability to manage projects including costs and schedules
Strong communicator, collaborative, and comfortable working autonomously; working-level English required
Bonus: FEA experience, background in suspension/chassis/vehicle dynamics, experience with hydraulic or energy recovery systems, or Formula SAE involvement
Why work with us?
The chance to work on a product people are genuinely passionate about
A fast-growing company with real momentum
A creative, international team based in Barcelona
Competitive salary and benefits package
Direct access to riders, race teams, and the product — this is not a remote-from-the-product role
Subsidized lunch in our in house restaurant
Free access to our in-house gym (including weekends!)
30 days of paid vacation
