About Stark
Stark builds the world’s most powerful electric motorcycles. From the VARG MX to the road-legal VARG EX & SM, our bikes have won world championships and are engineered to outperform anything with a combustion engine.
We’re based in Sant Boi, Barcelona, growing fast (77% year-on-year), and building a team that will take us even further. If you want to work on a product that people are genuinely obsessed with, this is it.
Stark will become the global market leader in premium motorcycles. Building premium motorcycles requires innovation and we need your help to make us succeed
Our mission is to lead the way towards a sustainable motorcycle industry, by reducing plastic and CO2 pollution.
This will be achieved by building sustainable products that are superior to traditional technology in terms of Performance, Emotion and Design.
The Role
We are looking for a hands-on power electronics engineer with a passion for electric vehicles. You have a strong foundation in designing high-power converters and a practical understanding of EMC challenges – from PCB layout to pre-compliance testing and debugging. You don’t need to have led a full certification campaign single- handedly, but you must be able to work with external labs and solve real-world EMI problems. Leadership experience is valued, but we are primarily seeking a strong technical contributor who is eager to grow and help shape our engineering culture.
Define, design, and develop high-voltage power electronics for traction inverters, fast chargers, BMS, and VCU with unprecedented power density and efficiency.
Lead the full hardware development cycle: schematic design, component selection, PCB layout (Altium Designer), prototyping, and validation testing.
Drive EMC/EMI design from concept to certification: implement best practices in filtering, shielding, grounding, and PCB stack-up to ensure compliance with automotive and global standards (CISPR 25, ISO 11452, ECE R10, FCC, etc.).
Plan and execute pre-compliance and formal EMC testing in collaboration with external labs; diagnose and resolve radiated/conducted emissions and immunity issues.
Engineer solutions that are compact, lightweight, uncomplicated, and cost- effective, with a strong focus on manufacturability (DFM/DFT).
Collaborate closely with the Stark Engineering and sourcing team for seamless integration of power electronics with motor control, battery, and vehicle systems.
Ensure project milestones align with defined timelines and objectives.
Oversee the maturity workflow, establishing validation cycles throughout the development process (from prototype to production).
Work with suppliers to incorporate cutting-edge technology components (SiC, GaN, high-performance magnetics, EMC filters).
Actively contribute to hardware architecture development and design.
Assist in shaping the working methodology for the Power Electronics team (as a senior member, you will mentor and guide junior engineers).
What you will bring to Stark
Electronics or Electrical Engineering Degree (BS minimum; MS is a plus but not required).
5 years of industry experience in power electronics hardware development for electric vehicles, inverters, or high-power converters.
Proven, hands-on experience with EMC/EMI – you have successfully debugged radiated/conducted emissions on a power electronics product and can explain common-mode noise paths, filter design (common-mode chokes, X/Y caps), and layout techniques (low-inductance, grounding, shielding).
Proficiency in PCB design for power electronics (Altium Designer preferred) with demonstrable skills in low-inductance layouts, thermal management, and EMC- aware routing.
Experience with magnetic design (transformers, inductors) and filter design for EMI suppression.
Familiarity with simulation tools: LTSpice, PSIM, or similar for power stage and filter behavior.
Working knowledge of lab equipment: oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power analyzers, and near-field EMC probes.
Background in developing electric powertrains for vehicles (motorcycles, cars, or commercial EVs).
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, especially for root-cause analysis of EMC failures.
Proven ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams (firmware, mechanical, homologation) and work independently.
Comfortable in an agile, fast-paced, and innovative environment.
High standards for performance, quality, and cost efficiency.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proficiency in English is essential.
